How to create a winter wonderland Christmas tablescape
Christmas is the time of year when you really can go all out! Décor, food, drinks, music every aspect of Christmas is the perfect time to declare yourself the King or Queen of Extra! Decorating your Christmas table and creating a beautiful design doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact in our opinion the easier it is to create the better. We are all about creating that wow factor with minimal fuss.
Creating your tablescape
The simplest way we find to start a festive tablescape is with a garland. This doesn’t have to be an expensive or elaborate garland. In fact the best ones are the bendable (wiggly) ones. This way you can shape the garland into shape you want. You are basically going to build your tablescape with the garland as your base. Start by placing the garland in the centre of the table, we like to create a wave or S shape.
Once you’ve got the garland in place, our next and favourite step is lights. Both fairy and candlelight are a must! The LED fairy lights are perfect for this, just hide the battery box under your garland and get ready to drape the lights over the top of garland. We really like spreading them out and so you get the subtle glow of the fairy lights. Next step is candlelight. The warmth and glow is what’s going to create both a beautiful and cosy table. We love using a mix of both tea lights and tall dinner candles. The mix of heights looks just wonderful.
No festive tablescape is finished without adding a little touch of nature. The winter foliage is our favourite. We’re thinking pine cones, dried fruits, cinnamon sticks, eucalyptus. It doesn’t have to cost a lot, foliage can be found in your local parks and fields. Dried oranges can be made in the oven or air fryer, tie cinnamon sticks together with twine. Reuse pieces you might have thrown away. Adding a mix of your favourites will give you the beautiful warm scents of winter everyone loves. Your Christmas table will be a treat for your eyes and nose!
Last step is the table settings and crockery. This is the perfect chance to get creative. Once you’ve laid the table, each setting is the a lovely way to make it individual to each person. Whether it’s a small table present or just a piece of that persons favourite foliage it’s a lovely way to let those you love know how special they are to you!
The very final step is to enjoy it! Enjoy getting creative and most of all have fun with it.
